“Searching for ballast, the stabilizing governance vital to navigate the sea of anxiety that characterizes much of contemporary life is at best a difficult task. Continually tested by the vagaries of social and personal circumstances, our embattled psyches seek reassurance, confirmation of a settled state where an essential but elusive serenity will eventually overcome an omnipresent angst. Embracing what seem irreconcilable opposites, one where light abuts dark, age corrupts youth, opportunity yields to frustration, and love interlaces with hate, the reconciliation required to regain any sensible tranquility flows forth from the artistry of Hans Neleman. Ripped, the recent work of this articulate artist materializes the equilibrium we seek both individually and collectively in our era of dislocation.”
