ABC New Canaan

About

ABC New Canaan is a non-profit organization guided by principles of education, equality, and opportunity.  Our mission is to provide transformative academic opportunities to talented young men of color, support them in becoming well-rounded and confident leaders, and prepare them for success in college and life.

Since 1974, our program has welcomed scholars into the New Canaan community, where they attend our nationally ranked high school to reach their fullest potential; participate in all of the athletic, artistic, and volunteer activities that the high school and community have to offer; live together at the ABC house in town under the care of a supportive resident director; and become a part of a local host family, having a home away from home during their four years at ABC New Canaan and beyond.

There are no fees to participate in ABC New Canaan, and we cover all living and educational expenses for our scholars during their four years in the program. Since our founding, 92 scholars have graduated from our program and attended prestigious colleges and universities such as Harvard, NYU, Boston College, University of Richmond, Tufts, and Colgate. Our alumni’s significant achievements in college, their chosen careers, and their communities are a testament to the life-changing power of education and the impact of their participation in our program.

One hundred percent of our funding comes directly from the generosity of New Canaan residents, businesses, foundations, and New Canaan High School.
