Library’s Presents Two Documentary Films on Papua New Guinea; Environmental and Geographical Perspectives

March 17, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

New Canaan Library is pleased to present screenings of two exceptional documentary films that reflect and highlight the themes in Lily King’s Euphoria, this March’s One Book New Canaan read. The Anthropologist will be shown on Friday, March 17 and Escape to Papua New Guinea will be shown the following Friday, March 24. Both screenings will be held in the Adrian Lamb Room at 2 p.m. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.
The Anthropologist examines climate change from the unique perspective of American teenager Katie Crate. Over the course of five years, she travels alongside her mother Susie, an anthropologist studying the impact of climate change on indigenous communities. Their journey parallels that of renowned anthropologist Margaret Mead, who for decades sought to understand how global change affects remote cultures.
The second film, Escape to Papua New Guinea, takes viewers on a small canoe along the Sepik River, surveying previously unexplored diversity, learning about rare cultures and their traditions, and viewing unique tribal art typical of this captivating part of Papua New Guinea.
