Sorelle Gallery Presents In Full Bloom: May 16 – June 6
Sorelle Gallery Fine Art embraces color in its second exhibition of 2019: ‘IN FULL BLOOM’; New Paintings by Stacy Milburn and Marta Spendowska. Celebrate spring during an Opening Reception, Thursday, May 16th from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.
Marta Spendowska is a Polish-born American artist and illustrator currently residing on the New Hampshire coast. Since emigrating to the United States in 2005, she has worked with a wide range of art collectors, consultants, interior designers, fashion and beauty brands; including Oprah Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, and Oreo. Articles, interviews, and podcasts featuring Marta and her work are published in print and online. She says of her abstract painting process, “I let the paint leak, gather, and pool until imagery emerges — a mountain or a cave or a flower’s bloom. The movement between the paint and me, hovering, is like dancing with the ghosts of every person and each thing that has ever mattered to me.”
Using a mirror as her canvas, Atlanta, Georgia-based artist and designer Stacy Milburn applies paints and chemicals with rigorous discipline to create stand-alone pieces that complement any interior. Designers and millwork artisans incorporate her works as paneling and backsplash elements. Her artwork has been featured in Modern Luxury Interiors and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. “I believe that every mirror has a story to tell…” says Milburn, “I want my mirrors to tell that story with texture, light, color and inherent nuances of silver, tin and copper. Mirror art should add unexpected elements of artistry that a canvas cannot capture. I find my work moving in more organic minimalist directions that reflect serene elements of nature including wind, rain and the ocean.”
