Art in the Windows

We are pleased to announce the Seventh Annual Art in the Windows exhibition organized by the Carriage Barn Arts Center (CBAC), the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce (NCCC) and local artists. This display showcases artwork by local artists in New Canaan store windows. The art will be juried by the Co-Directors of CBAC and the Chair of Art in the Windows. The purpose of the exhibit is to promote artistic talent in the town center while increasing customer sales for merchants. This collaboration exemplifies the power of partnership between artists, merchants and non-profits (CBAC and NCCC).

Art will be displayed in store windows from May 22nd through June 8th, 2014. This year we will be kicking off the event with an Inaugural Art Stroll on Thursday, May 22nd, from 6 – 8 pm.

A New Canaan tradition started by The Police Benevolent Association in the early 1970’s, and it was named for former New Canaan Police Officer George Cogswell. The event took a brief hiatus but was restarted about three years ago after Mill Pond was dredged and then refilled. “The fishing derby is a great tradition in New Canaan and definitely says spring is here,” said Tucker Murphy, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce
