New Canaan Library Hosts Talk by Fairfield County Hospice House

FreeNew Canaan Library welcomes leaders from the Fairfield County Hospice House on Tuesday, April 4 to speak about the first house dedicated to hospice care in the state of Connecticut. The house, scheduled to open in 2017, will be a place where people can spend their final days surrounded by family and friends in a home environment.
Speakers include Julia Portale, the Executive Director for the Fairfield County Hospice House, and Sharon Bradley, President and CEO of Visiting Nurse & Hospice, Inc. since 1999. After the discussion they will answer general questions about hospice and end of life care. The talk will be held in the Curtis Gallery at 6:30 p.m.
In Julia Portale’s current role she is responsible for working with the board of directors to design, build, and begin operations of the first hospice house in Connecticut. Julia is passionate about supporting older adults and their families as they make important decisions about their lives and lifestyles.
Sharon Bradley has been President and CEO of Visiting Nurse & Hospice, Inc. since 1999. Under her leadership the Agency initiated and expanded a home telehealth program, established formal partnerships with a number of local and regional healthcare providers, and expanded the agency’s home care and hospice programs to serve hundreds more individuals and families throughout Fairfield County.
