As the nation prepares to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the Town of New Canaan is launching a community-wide celebration to honor this historic milestone.
The New Canaan 250th Planning Committee is organizing a series of events from June 14 through November 11, 2026, highlighting the Town’s history, civic leadership, and enduring community spirit as part of America’s Semiquincentennial celebration.
Local organizations, businesses, and community groups are invited to participate by hosting events and activities that reflect New Canaan’s rich heritage and patriotic tradition. An official America250 New Canaan Calendar has been created to feature all participating events throughout the celebration period, offering residents and visitors numerous opportunities to engage in this once-in-a-generation commemoration.

Signature Events
Two major community-wide events anchor the celebration:
· NC250 Parade – June 27, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. (Rain date: June 28, 2026, 1:00 p.m.) For more information on the parade contact Parade Co-Chair Lisa Melland at (203) 966-5016.
· Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular – July 4, 2026, at Waveny Park. Tickets will go on sale in June!
The parade and fireworks celebration are expected to draw residents of all ages and serve as signature moments of the America 250 observance in New Canaan.

Stars and Stripes Blazer Partnership As part of a special partnership initiative, supporters may purchase a custom Stars and Stripes Blazer from Blaze-In Sportswear, with 10% of proceeds donated back to America 250 New Canaan. The ordering deadline is March 15, 2026, with delivery beginning in May 2026.
