Carl Bernstein to Present Library’s Annual Richard Salant Lecture

On Thursday October 19th at 6:30 pm The New Canaan Library will welcome celebrated journalist and author Carl Bernstein as guest speaker for the 23rd Annual Richard Salant Lecture Series.

Famous for breaking the Watergate Scandal in 1972, his journalism for The Washington Post, and five critically acclaimed books, including All the President’s Men, Carl Bernstein has focused much of his career on American politics and the abuse of power. After winning the Pulitzer Prize for his early Watergate reporting, Bernstein has continued to bring truth and integrity to the American public in major news outlets that include ABC, CNN, and The Washington Post, among others. Copies of his latest release, Chasing History: A Kid in the Newsroom, will be available for purchase from Elm Street Books.

The Richard Salant Speaker Series is dedicated to encouraging news literacy and fostering a greater understanding of the responsibility of the news media in a free society. This program is intended to generate public interest in news and current affairs and the manner of its dissemination with a critical eye.
