Our 22-member Board of Directors comprised of professionals from the retail, legal, medical, fitness, education, financial, real estate, and nonprofit fields pledges our complete support to the Library’s planned new facility as designed.
The Library serves as an “anchor tenant” in the downtown area. By employing 40 professionals, contracting goods and services from local vendors and with over 80% of daily visitors shopping or dining in town before or after their visit, the Library is an invaluable asset to the local economy.
We believe that what the library has carefully and diligently proposed for this gateway block of downtown New Canaan marks a significant and positive development for the entire business district and the community at large. This project opens possibilities for new types of events, programs, and educational opportunities for all New Canaan and beyond.
The new library will provide multiple levels of support to local business owners and entrepreneurs. The planned meeting rooms, business center, and tech services will keep these local businesspeople in town during the day as well as attract out of towners to this one-of-a-kind facility.
Our community is in dire need of gathering spaces and in a post COVID world we will be craving new experiences. The indoor and outdoor space afforded by the Library’s proposed new campus will deliver the flexibility and accessibility our residents need.
This project is a prime example of Placemaking, capitalizing on our community’s assets, inspiration, and potential, creating public spaces that promote our residents and visitor’s health, happiness, and well-being.
New Canaan is extremely fortunate that our Library’s Board and Donors have the vision to see what our community needs now and for decades to come.
