Natural Gas is Coming

There’s an easy way for New Canaan residents interested in replacing their current heating system with natural gas to request Yankee Gas consider your neighborhood.

Sign up at NewCanaan.IWantNaturalGas.com to tell Yankee Gas you want to make the switch. By signing up, you’ll also get updates from the utility on the progress of the planned natural gas line, including when it might make it to your street, according to Collins. The website features tools that help you explore the switch to natural gas, including information on what you need to do to get natural gas at your residence or business, finding a contractor for necessary modifications and a potential cost savings calculator.

Silent Auction Benefit at elm restaurant

A silent auction benefiting the New Canaan Community Foundation’s Young Philanthropists will be held at elm restaurant on March 25th from 5:30 – 9:30pm. Residents are invited to join us for dinner that night and the restaurant will generously donate a portion of their proceeds to this innovative charitable program for local high school students. Silent auction items include a print by world-renowned Chilean artist, Sergio Gonzalez-Tornero donated by Silvermine Arts Center, as well as gifts from Noelle Spa, Caren Forbes, She La La and Vineyard Vines. Local merchants Ten Thousand Villages and Caren Forbes will also donate a portion of their sales from this day to our cause. Call the Foundation office at 966-0231 for more information.

Pop Up Park Survey

For the past two summers the Chamber of Commerce, along with a committee of dedicated volunteers, has set up and run the Pop Up Park on at the intersection of South and Elm. The park has been used for friends and family to share some food from a local restaurant, take a break from shopping, and even to enjoy music and entertainment. As we begin to plan for Summer 2014 we are very much interested in public opinion about the park and we want to hear your views on how to best utilize this space. We invite you to participate in a brief survey to express your opinions about the Pop Up Park that will help determine the future of the space.

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Social

A favorite New Canaan Tradition the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner will be held at St. Aloysius School Hall on Sunday March 16th from 5:00-7:30 pm. The Kiwanis Club of New Canaan is hosting the event and invites you to join them for a traditional St. Patrick’s Day Meal for corned beef and cabbage as well as Kid-friendly fare. Irish Music and Dancers from Pender Keady School of Irish Dance and the Anam Cara Irish Dance School will be there to entertain. Take out is also available.

Tickets are $15 are on sale at Nurenu Brand Marketing, New Canaan Chamber and TD Bank. Tickets sold at the Door are $20. All Children’s Tickets are $10.
