New Canaan’s Taste of the Town Stroll takes place in late August when New Canaan merchants, restaurants and eateries open their doors to the strolling public and offering free hors d’oeuvres and drinks. The Event is a fundraiser for the New Canaan Food Pantry. At the end of the Night Strollers are eligible to win prizes from a variety of New Canaan Stores and Restaurants. This badge is for those who have participated.
Sponsored annually for almost 50 years by the Chamber of Commerce, actually has roots in the 1920’s, when merchants put their wares on the sidewalks for sale. The fair offers local residents and regional visitors an action packed, bargain filled, entertaining, and delicious way to spend a summer day in one of the most charming towns in Connecticut. The event has tons of activities planned and the merchants pull out all the stops! This badge is for those who participate in the stroll.
The annual Holiday Stroll has become a family favorite for New Canaan residents and those of our neighboring towns. Held on the weekend after Thanksgiving, downtown New Canaan transforms into something out of a Dickens’s story book. Friday night kicks off with the arrival of Santa Claus, a lighting of the trees, carol singing, live entertainment while the stores stay open late and offer refreshments and holiday cheer.
Our goals for this great golf event to be held in September is to bring together nearby business professionals and raise funds to support the community and business events by Chamber. This badge is for those who sponsor this event.
Healthy New Canaan is an initiative organized by the Chamber to promote healthy living through exercise and nutrition. This badge represents those who sponsored this event.
From Thanksgiving to Mid January the trees in Downtown New Canaan are illuminated with a beautiful array of lights. Over 50 Trees are decorated with over 400 strands of lights. It takes over 150 Man Hours to prep and maintain the lights and additional funds to replace the bulbs every year. We need the support from the residents of New Canaan to make sure the downtown Holiday Lights reflect the warmth of the holiday season. The Chamber of Commerce does not receive financial support from the town budget and relies solely on the generosity of the residents and merchants in town. This badge is for those members who sponsor the lights.
Dog Days is an event to celebrate our four legged friends, it features fun activities for canines as well as humans and it’s all made possible by member sponsors. This badge is for those sponsors.
