The New Canaan Mile was started in 2012 by New Balance owners Ron and Tina Rosenfeld to reward two student athletes at the New Canaan High School for the following merits: Strong Leadership Qualities, Hard Working, and Good Grades. Most importantly the schloarship is not awarded to the students who are necessarily the best athletes, but the indivduals that come to practice with a positive attitude and helps others.We give a $1000 scholarship to a person decided on by the coaches.

This year’s race will be held on Saturday, 20 June 6 PM kicking off at the New Balance Store, 128 Main Street.

A USATF certified (CT12009JRG) criterium course around downtown New Canaan on a summer Saturday evening. T-shirts to all preregistered runners and the first 50 race day entrants.Three heats (Men, Women, Citizens) go off at 10 minute intervals,followed by a 1/3 mile Kids Mini Mile – Dads, run with your kids! Merchandise prizes in male and female age groups and fastest New Canaan male and female. Post race refreshments and live entertainment while you await the awards. Facilities are extremely limited, so come ready to run. Register online or at New Canaan New Balance Store, 128 Main St. Check in Thursday June 18 through race-day at New Balance. Race day registration begins at 9 AM – please bring $15 check or exact change. Health walk and kids 1/3 mile fun run following the last heat.
