Experience the fashions of 1889 as the Historical Society opens its latest costume exhibit, As We Were, in celebration of the Society’s 125th anniversary. The first meeting of the Historical Society took place on August 20, 1889, where 65 prominent New Canaan residents discussed how to maintain the town’s history. The exhibit features dresses like those that could have been worn at this initial meeting. Two residents that attended the meeting, Edna Hoyt Rogers and Henry Benjamin Rogers, were married around the same time. On display are Edna Hoyt Rogers’ wedding dress, along with several other dresses from the period. The Show runs through May 2015
