Founded in 2008, Staying Put in New Canaan, Inc. is a member-based, volunteer-supported non-profit organization committed to helping seniors aged 70+ live safely in their homes and remain actively engaged in the community as they age.

Staying Put is seeking a full-time RN to oversee all activities associated with helping its members navigate the day-to-day challenges associated with aging. The position requires addressing transportation needs, providing health consultations and in-home safety advice, interacting with volunteers, responding to member requests, providing outreach to members and their families, and facilitating social, educational, and community events.

Hands-on experience in geriatric care or clinical case management is preferred. Candidates must have exceptional communication, management, and organizational skills. The position reports to the Executive Director.


Member Support Services

Oversee all member support and activity
Ensure timely and effective response to member requests
Ensure safe transportation for members, addressing their physical and cognitive needs
Oversee new member recruitment and orientation
Troubleshoot member issues and follow up on high-need members
Provide advice, referrals, and consults to members and families
Conduct member intervention, including accompanying members on key medical visits and conducting in-home visits and follow up calls
Confidentially help members utilize resources within the community
Work collaboratively with staff and office volunteers

Marketing and Development

Assist the Executive Director in securing grant support
Assist with efforts to build awareness of Staying Put via publicity, marketing and social media
Work with local community partners to address the needs of seniors
Participate in solicitation of annual appeal gifts from donors

Education, Skills, and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree and Licensed RN
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience, preferably with seniors
Excellent inter-personal skills; a perceptive, sensitive and passionate communicator and relationship-builder
Excellence in time management, multi-tasking and organization
Ability to recruit, organize and motivate volunteers
Experience planning and executing events and programs
Strong team building, strategic and leadership skills
Advanced computer literacy; proficiency in Word, Excel, and digital and social media


36 hours per week. Occasional after-hours and weekend work in support of member events and community activities.
