Job Description

Birthday Party Instructor
Location: Silvermine Arts Center
Position Type: Independent Contractor
Compensation: $250+ per even

Silvermine Arts Center is seeking enthusiastic, creative, and responsible instructors to lead engaging art-themed birthday parties for children. Instructors will facilitate fun, age-appropriate art activities for party guests while creating a welcoming, supportive, and memorable experience for all attendees.

Responsibilities:
• Arrive 30 minutes prior to the party to set up the art activity and materials
• Lead art-based birthday party activities for children ages 4-13
• Prepare and organize materials for our themed art projects
• Engage and guide up to 12–18 children through a hands-on art activity
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment throughout the party
• Communicate clearly with parents and Silvermine staff regarding party logistics
• Collaborate with a party assistant when needed (based on group size)
• Cleanup following the event

Compensation Breakdown:
Compensation is based on party duration and event requirements, with additional
compensation available for larger parties and extended event times.

Qualifications:
• Background in visual arts, art education, or equivalent experience working with
children.
• Friendly, engaging, and confident leading a group of young artists.
• Organized, dependable, and able to work independently.
• Able to adapt instruction for varying ages and skill levels.
• Strong communication skills and prompt responsiveness to email and phone
communication.
• Weekend availability is required.

Preferred:
• Prior experience in leading classroom, camp, or birthday party settings.
• Experience working with clay, painting, and a variety of arts & crafts activities is a plus.
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
• Local to New Canaan, Fairfield County, or the surrounding area is preferred due to the
on-site and event-based nature of the position.
