New Canaan First Selectman Dionna Carlson will report on the town’s goals and priorities at Friday’s New Canaan Men’s Club meeting to be held at Morrill Hall in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with Carlson outlining the town’s agenda in remarks at 10:40 a.m., after the business portion of the meeting.
Before her election as First Selectman last fall, Carlson had established a long record on service on behalf of the town, notably on the Board of Education from 2013 to 2021. She was unanimously elected its chair from 2015 through 2018. On the board, she also served as chair of its Resources Committee, and was a member of the Contracts Negotiation Team in talks with the teachers’ union and the district’s bus contract. She was also tapped to testify against regionalization at a legislative public hearing in the state Capital.
As First Selectman, Carlson is the town’s chief executive and chief administrative officer, responsible for procurement and the administration of the town’s functions and services under the Town Charter.
A longtime resident, Carlson and her husband have lived in New Canaan for more than 27 years and have three children.
The Men’s Club has openings for new members, men 55-years old and above. For information about joining, email ncmens@ncmens.club.
