Actor, director and producer Griffin Dunne will speak at New Canaan Library, introducing his searing family memoir, The Friday Afternoon Club. The memoir has been called “warm and perceptive” by The New York Times, and in turn, it is brimming with tragedy, irony and wit. Seeped in Irish American heritage, and populated with the larger-than life characters he grew up with, this wide-ranging tale explores what happens when fame-tinged families are torn apart — and stitched back together.
Dunne, who found fame on screen in hits such as After Hours, has also produced films such as Practical Magic, and a documentary on his aunt Joan Didion titled The Center Will Not Hold, as well as tackling roles in popular TV series such as This is Us and Succession.
