The Board of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce held their annual Awards Luncheon on Thursday June 13th at the New Canaan Nature Center to honor those individuals and businesses that have gone above and beyond in making New Canaan a better place to live, work and play.

This year’s recipients are:

• Golden Shovel Award was presented to New Canaan Department of Public Works for their collective effort in maintaining and beautifying New Canaan each and every day!
• Volunteer of the Year award was presented to New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps for the “Hands For Life” program that trained over 900 people on compression only CPR which was held at the YMCA this past April.
• Business of the Year was presented to Joe’s Pizza for the support of just about  every charity that asks for help with enthusiasm and an unmatched level of commitment.

Overall it was a great event and the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the 60+ attendees who enjoyed a delicious lunch catered by Walter Stewart’s Market.
