New Canaan Library welcomes back Yale Science Communication, presenting a discussion via live webinar that explains the role of cell communication in the onset of diseases. The Yale Science Communication team will help the audience understand how and why we get sick. The cells in one’s body constantly communicate with each other through a network of ‘telephone calls’ to precisely maintain the delicate balance of our health. But what happens when this information is lost in translation between cells? The evening’s lecture will discuss as how even a slight miscommunication in this game of ‘CELLular telephone’ can lead to various diseases.
Yale Science Communication is an organization of graduate students and postdoctoral individuals passionate about science communication, education, and advocacy. They deliver talks on current topics in science, ranging from the microbiome to the feasibility of a real-life Jurassic Park. Their goal is to make science fun and accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. and provide people with a better understanding of the science underpinning many of the complex issues in the news every day. Speaking on this topic will be Christina Cho, PhD, Erika Hoyos-Ramirez, PhD, and Krishna Mudumbi, PhD.
