The Origins of Our Constitutional Rights, A Six Part Lecture Series, Presented at New Canaan Library

In partnership with The New Canaan Museum & Historical Society, New Canaan Library is pleased to present a six-part lecture series that will look at the origins of specific constitutional rights. The first lecture will explore the history of the Equal Rights Amendment and will take place on November 20 at 7 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room. A reception will follow the lecture. Jean Sweeney, founder and president of Rethinking Eve, an influencer of women’s rights, will discuss the history of the Equal Rights Amendment, its impact, and the continued efforts to see it passed. Her talk will be followed by a screening of the short documentary, Legalize Equality.
Jean Sweeney is the founder and president of Rethinking Eve, an influencer for women’s rights. A New York attorney, award winning photographer, Kripalu trained yoga teacher, writer, and public speaker; Jean is passionate about getting the Equal Rights Amendment ratified. She is working with the grassroots activists for the 3 State Solution and for removing the ERA ratification deadline in Congress. A longtime resident of Fairfield County, she has been married to attorney David Maloof for 28 years.
