In keeping with the Chamber's mission of “Connecting The Community With Commerce” this Calendar was created to allow member businesses and New Canaan based non-profits to promote their upcoming events to the public. The Community Calendar is a local resource for all residents and visitors and has quickly become one of the most visited pages on the site. Events can be submitted via the link below and will be reviewed and posted within 24-48 hours.

The Digital Negative
June 10 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm$25
The negative has historically been captured in-camera, restricted in size based on the film format being used. Now that we have entered the digital age, image-processing software has allowed the artist flexibility. We can create a negative from pre-existing images, applying it to endless printing possibilities in printmaking and alternative photographic processes such as cyanotype. In this class, we will look at best practices to produce sharp negatives with professional results, and will also discuss ways to make DIY versions that will suit any budget without the need for expensive equipment. Learn how to read a histogram, assess density, add color filters, and more to broaden your practice to include photographic elements easily and beautifully. Note: we will be using Adobe Photoshop. Access to the software during class is not necessary; students will receive a pdf download of our main points and are encouraged to take notes!
