Solo Exhibition: Alexander Churchill,
March 12, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pmFree
Silvermine Galleries proudly presents the solo exhibition of Alexander Churchill, the grand prize awardee of Silvermine’s 70th A-ONE exhibition. The exhibit will include work from four different series of his; “Memories and Hallucinations,” “Love in the Time of Anxiety,” “Country Club Ennui,” and “Ignorance/Complacency.” Each of his series address issues of the digital age in a postmodern world. Churchill infuses a satirical humor that is fueled by a certain ennui attributed to modern boredom and existentialism. It is an artistic take on absurdism. Churchill’s body of works are expressive, intimate portraits that tell very poignant stories of loneliness and anxiety; yet offer a hopeful reminder of our shared experiences.
The issues and stories from Churchill’s exhibition feel especially pertinent in this historical moment. In the shadow of an ongoing pandemic, many of us may find ourselves in an uncertain phase of life. For these reasons, the presence of art feels critical for us to look inward and reflect on the nature of our own reality and the possibilities of a certain future.
