Pop! Art from the 1950s to the 1960s

October 29 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

The New Canaan Museum and Historical Society welcomes ArtScapades to present Pop!: Art From the 1950s to the 1960s

Pop art emerged in the UK and the US during the 1950s. Initially, Pop Art was seen as radical and shocking, then became accepted as an exciting, colorful, and vibrant art movement. ArtScapades will look at the lives and works of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and David Hockney. These artists celebrated commonplace objects and everyday people, seeking to elevate popular culture to the level of fine art.

Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman, of ArtScapades, began teaching art appreciation in 1998. They have presented at libraries, art centers, and museums in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Florida.
