Paws for a Cause: Houston – New Canaan Library to Hold Dog Parade to Benefit the Houston Humane Society
September 10, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm$25.00
New Canaan Library is asking dog loving families to rally around them in support of Houston’s recovery efforts by joining in a Dog Parade to raise funds for the Humane Society of Houston. In addition to the immense human toll Hurricane Harvey exacted on the population of Houston and surrounding areas, thousands of animals are also struggling greatly in this time of crisis. “We hope we can rally our families and their pets to support this great cause,” notes Lisa Oldham, Executive Director.
The Dog Parade will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, beginning at Christine’s Garden, the Library’s green on the corner of South Avenue and Maple Street. Suggested registration fee of $25 per family, all donations will be directed by the Library to the charity.
Look out for a surprise Grand Marshall, leading the parade down South Avenue in an effort to raise attention and funds. At the 1 pm gathering time there will be plenty of time for doggie and human socializing, with the parade starting at 1:30. Following the parade, all are invited back to
the garden for doggie camaraderie and treats. Registered participants will be entered to win many exciting prizes donated by generous local sponsors including Pet Valu, New Canaan Veterinary Hospital and Jack and Jill Pet Sitting. For more information and to register on line, please visit newcanaanlibrary.org.
Please join the Library in supporting this important cause – all are welcome, with or without dogs!
