New Canaan Sculpture Group Show Opening at the Carriage Barn Arts Center

June 18, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

taste of the town stroll

Come to an opening reception on Saturday, June 18, 4-6 pm for The New Canaan Sculpture Group, a collective of more than 15 artists from local communities, who work in a studio at the Carriage Barn. Works will be on view through Thursday, June 30 during gallery hours: Wednesday through Saturday 10 am-3 pm and Sunday 1-5 pm.

Behind the Carriage Barn Arts Center in Waveny Park, there is a green wooden door with a sign that reads: “New Canaan Sculpture Group.” Unless someone told you about it, you might never know it was there. Members of the New Canaan Sculpture Group, who convene on Fridays, guided individually by Master sculptor Sergey Eylanbekov, will present a group show at the Carriage Barn opening June 18. This exhibit–the first in years for the sculptors–comprises works in stone, alabaster, terracotta, bronze, and mixed media, in literal and abstract forms. The show will include works by Eylanbekov and sculpture created in memory of the late artist Angela Burns, a well-known member of the Sculpture Group from New Canaan.

The Carriage Barn is pleased to spotlight the work of our resident artists before we close for July and August. We will re-open in September for our 39th annual Members Show, along with an exciting new year of innovative programming. Artists and arts appreciators can become members and support the arts in New Canaan online at www.carriagebarn.org. Sponsorship for this exhibition has been generously provided by Karl Chevrolet.

About The New Canaan Society for the Arts (NCSA) and the Carriage Barn Arts Center
The mission of the NCSA is to promote the visual and performing arts, to enrich the community through exhibitions, education, and cultural experiences, and to operate the Carriage Barn Arts Center. We offer artists opportunities to exhibit their work in an exceptional gallery space inside a unique nineteenth-century stone barn. Our shows are complemented by gatherings, educational workshops, concerts, and other events in our adaptively reused historical space, located on the grounds of a former estate, now named Waveny Park. During exhibitions our gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday 10-3 pm and Sunday 1-5pm. For more information visit www.carriagebarn.org.
