In keeping with the Chamber’s mission of “Connecting The Community With Commerce” this Calendar was created to allow member businesses and New Canaan based non-profits to promote their upcoming events to the public. The Community Calendar is a local resource for all residents and visitors and has quickly become one of the most visited pages on the site. Events can be submitted via the link below and will be reviewed and posted within 24-48 hours.

The Eleventh Annual Preservation Awards will be presented by the New Canaan Preservation Alliance at a Ceremonial Reception on Sunday June 3rd at the Carriage Barn Arts Center in Waveny Park. Selected by a jury of preservationists and board members of the Alliance, the winners will be presented certificates of honor. To be eligible for an Award, the property is viewed mainly from the street, as well-preserved buildings are considered a “Gift” to the community, appreciated by all who value New Canaan’s heritage. There are four categories of winners, the Committee’s Award for Rehabilitation, the Trustees’ Award for Restoration, The Preservation Leadership Award and the President’s Award for Preservation.
Beginning at 4:00 PM, the public will be welcomed to a reception in celebration of NCPA’s eleventh Annual Awards. Virginia Adams, Senior Architectural Historian from Public Archeology Laboratory, Inc. will give a brief presentation on their research and preparation of the nomination of the Waveny Estate, to the National Register of Historic Places, highlighting various aspects of the significance of the property.
This year, there are six awards, for residences ranging from a 1950s Mid-Century Modern house to a 1930s Dutch Colonial Estate. A seventh Award, for Preservation, will be presented to Richard Bergmann for his career-long dedication to preservation.
Please join us as we congratulate each winner and the “gift” that they have given to our community. RSVPs are requested via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
