Originally bustling with mills, as industry modernized and the mills quieted Silvermine then became popular as an artist’s haven. Local resident Samuel Schmitt is the author of the book Silvermine, part of the “Images of America” series printed by Arcadia Publishing, and will present a talk and slide show on the history of Silvermine based on his book. He will trace the history of the area, with special emphasis on the early Silvermine artists.
