New Canaan Library is Broadway Bound with new Musical Amélie
April 21 @ 4:00 pm - 11:00 pm250.00$
New Canaan Library is pleased to present a unique opportunity to support the Library while being part of the excitement surrounding the spring opening of a new Broadway musical, Amélie. Based on the Academy Award-winning French film of the same name and starring Tony Award – nominated Phillipa Soo of Hamilton fame, Amélie, A New Musical is slated to open on Broadway in early April. After its successful pre-Broadway run in Los Angeles, the LA Times said Amélie is “a sparkling musical and an enchanting act of theatrical reinvention.”
The Library has procured 200 orchestra tickets for an 8 pm performance on Friday, April 21st. “As a special arrangement with the show’s producers, our group will be treated to an exclusive talk-back with the cast and musical director after the performance,” said Ellen Crovatto, Director of Development at the Library. The $250 purchase price for a general orchestra ticket includes an exclusive, post-performance discussion with members of the cast and the show’s musical director, as well as an option for bus transportation to and from New York City.
Amélie tells the story of a Parisian waitress who charms all she meets and makes it her mission
in life to bring joy to others. Starring Phillipa Soo, Amélie features a libretto by Craig Lucas (An American in Paris, Prelude to a Kiss)and music by Daniel Messe with lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Messe. “Phillipa Soo is exquisite. Every time she opens her mouth to sing, stars in Paris’ night sky shine brighter,” noted Charles McNulty in the LA Times.
“We’re so thrilled to be able to offer our members such an amazing Broadway experience as a new way to support the Library,” says Crovatto. “The chance to buy tickets early for this hot new musical is wonderful in itself, but meeting the cast after the show makes this a really special night out”.
