The Community Calendar is a local resource for all residents and visitors and has quickly become one of the most visited pages on the site. New Canaan Library is pleased to present “Design Stars in Conversation,” a very special event featuring international design gurus, authors and close friends, India Hicks and Nathan Turner. The event will be held on Thursday, September 20th, from 6 – 8 pm in the Library. The event is a fundraiser for the Library and space is limited; tickets are $35 available online at newcanaanlibrary.org/design.
“Design Stars in Conversation” will begin in the Curtis Gallery with a champagne reception and “live” tablescape design duel, as Hicks and Turner create fabulous, impromptu table settings. Following will be a conversation in the Lamb Room centered on a discussion of their unique design and lifestyle brands, expertly moderated by Debbie Propst, President of One Kings Lane. Hicks will speak about her book, India Hicks: A Slice of England and Turner will introduce his book, Nathan Turner’s I Love California. Both books will be available for purchase and signing by the authors, courtesy of Elm Street Books. Rounding out the evening will be a pop up shop and a live auction of beautiful home decor items.
The founder and creative director of the internationally celebrated lifestyle brand India Hicks, Inc., Hicks is the daughter of world renowned designer David Hicks, the goddaughter of the Prince of Wales and the granddaughter of the last Viceroy of India. After successful modeling career she founded a her self-named lifestyle brand and her exciting products will be available at a special pop-up shop at this event. She is also the author of three books on Bahamian lifestyle and design, and most recently, A Slice of England.
Nathan Turner traveled the world fueling and fostering his language, art and culinary skills, and then channeled those passions into the opening of his famous Melrose Avenue store. His signature design vision has made him an icon in the interior design world. Turner’s parties, products, and designs have been featured in major national and regional publications including Architectural Digest, Domino, Vogue, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Food & Wine, C Magazine, New York Times, and Los Angeles Times.
