|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every 3 days that begins at 4:30 pm, repeating until April 15, 2021

$100

In this three part demonstration, Kevin Frances will be showing how to create a woodblock print, printed in the Japanese style with water-based inks. In the first session, participants will be shown how to transfer drawings onto the woodblock, and how to carve the block using hand tools. Part two will be focused on reviewing paper and inks in preparation of printing the woodblock. Part three will introduce methods beyond carving and printing such as; multi plate registration, tool selection and upkeep, and the Japanese style of mounting papers-either gluing a thin sheet to a thicker piece of paper for display, or collaging papers for creative effect. After each demo, Kevin will be sharing images to help with participant notes , and will be available for questions and troubleshooting via email.

Please note, this is a 3 part workshop, taking place on 3 different days via Zoom.
