In keeping with the Chamber’s mission of “Connecting The Community With Commerce” this Calendar was created to allow member businesses and New Canaan based non-profits to promote their upcoming events to the public. The Community Calendar is a local resource for all residents and visitors and has quickly become one of the most visited pages on the site. The 1st Annual Art, Antique and Jewelry Sale to benefit the New Canaan Historical Society will be held on March 3rd and 4th at the Historical Society. A select group of antique dealers will offer a wide array of antique items including vintage and antique jewelry, rare books, prints, paintings, art pottery, silver, and all kinds of items from the 18th century to mid-century.
Among the dealers are Westport’s Joan Beauvais, who will feature Black Forest carvings, dog related antiques and bronzes. Gil Rodriguez of Darien will bring a great selection of rare books and a special display of Bliss Carman memorabilia, a well-known Canadian poet who did most of his writing in New Canaan up to the 1920’s. Patricia Funt, who had a shop on Main Street in New Canaan until 2010, has a wide range of different and amusing antiques, jewelry and small objects. Imperial, run by two Swedish dealers, will offer mid-century pieces from small furniture to jewelry. Maureen Meyer of Silvermine has early antique jewelry and small items such as a boxed pair of 18th century shoe buckles.
The show runs from 10am to 4pm on March 3rd and 11am to 4pm March 4th. The cost of admission is $5 per person and good for both days. For more information, call the Historical Society at (203) 966-1776 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
