HARD-COVER BOOKS AT HOME

August 17, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, repeating until August 31, 2021

$130

In this 3-day virtual workshop hosted on ZOOM, participants will get a crash course in making hard-cover books at home with little-to-no equipment. Beth will begin by creating the “textblock” for the book, illustrating how to fold and sew the pages, add end papers, and prep the book for covering. Participants will then learn to make their own book cloth from fabrics they have at home. Finally, participants will use the book cloth they each created to make covers for their book and learn the process of casing-in hard-cover books. Discussion will focus on best practices for bookbinding, the tools and tricks for working in a home studio, and ways to use the skills learned in this workshop to make different bindings in the future. This class is a continuation of the Bookbinding for Artists workshop, however, participants need NO previous book making experience!

Please note, this is a 3 part class, taking place on 3 different days via ZOOM.

Tuesday, August 17 | 6:00–8:00 PM EST
Tuesday, August 24 | 6:00–8:00 PM EST
Tuesday, August 31 | 6:00–8:00 PM EST
