Double Feature of Films “Dream Big” and “Spare Parts” at New Canaan Library Highlights the Impact of Human Ingenuity and Technology

New Canaan Library’s One Book New Canaan town wide read of Joshua Davis’s Spare Parts has been underscored with numerous events throughout the month of March. On Saturday, March 23 the Library will offer a special double feature of two films involving technology and engineering, both which figure strongly in Spare Parts. Learn how engineering is not only a vital part of our lives, but an exciting, innovative field that creates more and more man made marvels. Dream Big: Engineering Our World will be shown in the Adrian Lamb Room at 1 p.m., followed by the feature film Spare Parts. Please register for this event, online at newcanaanlibrary.org.

From the Great Wall of China and the world’s tallest buildings to underwater robots, solar cars, and smart, sustainable cities, Dream Big celebrates the human ingenuity behind engineering, and shows how engineers push the limits of innovation in unexpected and amazing ways.
Based on the true events, Spare Parts tells the uplifting story of four undocumented teenagers who, against all odds, and under the guidance of exceptional teachers, harness their interest in
technology to fight for a chance to compete at a prestigious robotics competition. Despite an underfunded school system and the struggles of living in a hostile environment, this team of inspired young men use determination and ingenuity to not only defy the odds but to excel.
