Chocolate Truffles with a Surprisingly Healthy Twist : Learn How and Why at New Canaan Library .

February 11, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

If you love chocolate, but are also somewhat health conscious, this is the demonstration to attend. Join Professional Chocolatier Maria Brandiff at New Canaan Library on Saturday, February 11 at 2 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room. Brandiff will demonstrate the precise art of truffle making – with a healthy twist! Attendees will learn the basics, then discover how vegan and reduced calorie substitutes can make a healthier (but still delicious) chocolate truffle.
Brandiff will talk about the health benefits of dark chocolate, and demonstrate how to make a healthy “bark” filled with berries, nuts and seeds. The best part? Tasting the amazing outcomes. Handouts will be available to take home, with additional healthy chocolate recipes. This program can accommodate up to 50 people, but please register at newcanaanlibrary.org.
Maria Brandriff is a chocolatier and teacher of all things chocolate. Her passion for dessert and pastry making eventually evolved into a passion for chocolate making. In 2001, she completed a certificate of Gastronomy from the University of New Haven and in the winter of 2004, she took a private course in chocolate making with a professional chocolatier in the city of Arles in Provence, France.
