In keeping with the Chamber’s mission of “Connecting The Community With Commerce” this Calendar was created to allow member businesses and New Canaan based non-profits to promote their upcoming events to the public. The Community Calendar is a local resource for all residents and visitors and has quickly become one of the most visited pages on the site. Sponsored annually for 50 years by the Chamber of Commerce, and held every year on the third Saturday in July, the origins of the Sidewalk Sale date back to the 1920’s, when merchants put their wares on the sidewalks for sale.
The fair offers local residents and regional visitors an action-packed, bargain-filled, entertaining, and delicious way to spend a summer day in one of the most charming towns in Connecticut. The event always offers many family friendly activities, with merchants showcasing an amazing array of products and services. Sure, there’s a little inventory spring cleaning going on, where many of the best deals spawn from, but some merchant’s have specifically ordered their customers’ favorite items to be sold at discounted prices exclusively during the Sidewalk Sale.
