Bruce Museum’s Exhibition “Under the Skin” Presented via Webinar from New Canaan Library

May 11, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

New Canaan Library is pleased to offer a live webinar with Bruce Museum educator Gabriela Perez, presenting a virtual tour of their past exhibition, Under the Skin. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, May 11 at 7 PM EST. Please register at newcanaanlibrary.org; Zoom sign in information will be provided upon registration.

This unique exhibition explores how the work of scientists, using the latest technological tools, can produce not only new information, but images that are beautiful and artistic. Viewers will learn about the newest technology and tools scientists are using in the field and at natural history museums to better understand animals and specimens. Additionally, viewers will see firsthand pieces of collected data and research that show how using tools that range from CT scans to staining moves science into the realm of art.
Gabriela Perez is currently a School Programs Educator at The Bruce Museum. She received a dual degree in Human Development and Family Studies and Art History, with a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Connecticut in 2019. In 2020, Gabriela launched Spanish Digital Bruce Beginnings, a program for Spanish-speaking children ages 3 through 5. Gabriela is interested in welcoming, engaging, inspiring, and empowering all
members within local communities through education and outreach programs. Gabriela will pursue a master’s degree in Museum Education at The University of The Arts in the Fall of 2021.
