In keeping with the Chamber’s mission of “Connecting The Community With Commerce” this Calendar was created to allow member businesses and New Canaan based non-profits to promote their upcoming events to the public. The Community Calendar is a local resource for all residents and visitors and has quickly become one of the most visited pages on the site. Events can be submitted via the link below and will be reviewed and posted within 24-48 hours.

On Saturday, May 7, from 10 am to 4 pm, Silvermine Arts Center will host its popular Artisan’s Trunk Show and Art Materials + Equipment Tag Sale at the Gallery and School of Art. This special sale day is a tax-free event at Silvermine.
Great prices—$1 to $5 for many items—can be found throughout the tag sale. Items include paints (oil, acrylic, watercolor or pastels), paper (including card stock and hand-made paper), frames, stretcher bars, cameras, sculpture supplies, art books, and a variety of donated art equipment. All proceeds from the tag sale go toward the School of Art Scholarship Fund for children.
At the trunk show, discover one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces, artisan ceramics, elegant vases, sculptural baskets and numerous other unique offerings perfect for Mother’s Day, birthdays or spring graduates. Artisans will be on hand to talk about their pieces and their artistic processes. Featured in the spring trunk show: semi-precious and precious gemstone jewelry from NMS Designs; ceramics and jewelry by Karen Ford; ceramics by Romi Hefetz; metal jewelry and metal sculpture by Steven Wallerstein; and unique, sculptural woven baskets by Tina Puckett.
While the sales are in progress, shoppers can visit the Silvermine Galleries, where the Faculty Exhibition will be up and running, showing the artistic achievements of Silvermine’s distinguished faculty. Spend the day—or part of it—at Silvermine. Whether you are an art teacher, artist, student or are just looking for a beautiful or unusual artisan gift, the May 7th Tag Sale & Artisan Trunk Show are not to be missed.
For those who would like to donate art materials to the tag sale, donation drop-off dates are Wednesday, May 4 and Thursday, May 5 from 10 am to 5 pm.
