Architectural Talk “Modern Libraries Around the World and at Home,” Presented via Live Webinar from New Canaan Library

April 14, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

New Canaan Library invites the community to meet and hear from the award-winning architects of Centerbrook, who will share their knowledge of the global resurgence in library design, providing inspiration and context for the Library’s new building plans. The webinar will be presented on Wednesday, April 14 at 7 PM EST. Please register at newcanaanlibrary.org; Zoom sign in info will be provided upon registration.
Lead architects Jim Childress and Mark Herter will share images and impressions from around the world that illustrate the way libraries have evolved in use and function. These insights greatly informed the design process of the Library’s new building plans and demonstrate how sustainably built, modern libraries have a pivotal role to play in the fabric of communities.
At the conclusion of this virtual program, Childress and Herter will take audience questions. New Canaan Library hopes to provide the community with an intimate look at the detailed and thoughtful process that underpins the NEW New Canaan Library.
Centerbrook Architects was founded in 1975 as a community of creative problem solvers working together to advance place making and the craft of building. Jim Childress is Principal Architect at Centerbrook Architects. Mark Herter is Associate Principal Architect at Centerbrook Architects.
