The Community Calendar is a local resource for all residents and visitors and has quickly become one of the most visited pages on the site. September 7 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pmFree
New Canaan Library is honored to host Mary Fetchet, Founding Director of Voices Center for Resilience, who will deliver the talk “A 20-year Journey: From 9/11 to Today” via live videoconference on Tuesday, September 7 at 6 PM EST. Ms. Fetchet, a New Canaan resident for 33 years and mother of Brad Fetchet, who died in the September 11 attacks, will discuss her journey over the past 20 years. Registration for the program and zoom sign in information can be found online at newcanaanlibrary.org.
Ms. Fetchet will speak about the evolution of her personal experience, her advocacy efforts, and how the loss of her son and the needs of the other families led to the creation of Voices Center for Resilience. In the years since 9/11, Fetchet has dedicated her time to providing long-term support for victims’ families, responders, and survivors, and in assisting communities impacted by other tragedies.
This program is part of New Canaan Library’s September initiative and multimedia exhibition, “20 Years Later: New Canaan Remembers and Reflects.” The interactive exhibition in the Library’s Curtis Gallery offers the community a space to reflect, with installations that include an opportunity to view the 9/11 Living Memorial Project created by Voices Center for Resilience, artwork on loan from the organization, an educational poster exhibition created specifically for
libraries by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, and a journal for visitors to write or sketch their thoughts. The Library thanks Voices Center for Resilience for their collaborative efforts in creating this important exhibition.
