New Canaan Nature Center’s Adopt-a-Tree Kickoff

New Canaan Nature Center’s Adopt-a-Tree Kickoff

Kickoff Event: Saturday, January 30th
Sessions at: 10:00 A.M., 10:45 A.M., 11:30 A.M., 12:30 P.M., 1:15 P.M. and 2:00 P.M.

Don’t get stuck indoors this winter! Get outside for some quality family time by adopting a tree for maple syrup season! Through this ongoing seasonal program, learn about and participate in the entire syrup making process, from tapping a maple tree to sap collections and boil downs. You’ll even get your very own bottle of NCNC-made maple syrup at our end of season pot-luck dinner in March.

Join us for the Kickoff Event on January 30th. Attend one of the six scheduled sessions to take part in choosing and tapping a tree for the season. Each session is limited to 5 families to allow for proper social distancing. Face coverings are required for all participants over the age of 2.

Can’t make it on the 30th, but still want to participate? Contact us today, at mhips@newcanaannature.org, to schedule a make-up date for the week of February 1st.

Participants then collect sap from their tree 1-3 times a week (depending on sap flow conditions) for the entire syrup season (typically, 4-6 weeks) and take part in boil downs where REAL maple syrup is made right here at NCNC.

$75/family
