In Chamber Events

As I begin my tenure the Executive Director of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce and I want to  give a special shout out to my former boss and good friend Tucker Murphy.

Tucker took over the Chamber in 2009 when many of our local businesses were still reeling from the 2008 financial crisis. Despite not being able to collect a salary for the first three months of her tenure, Tucker completely reinvented to role the Chamber would play in the community.

With the guidance of a dedicated Board of Directors, the Chamber was re-branded with a simple and straight forward mission of “Connecting the Community with Commerce”. Under Tucker’s leadership, this mission has been met every day. The Chamber has played a vital role in making connections between New Canaan’s business community, town government, local non-profit organizations, residents, and visitors. This sort of coordination takes a special talent – someone who truly loves our town, has a tremendous work ethic, a huge heart, lots of patience and a great sense of humor. Tucker was the right person to take on this task and her legacy will live on in our annual events such as Holiday Stroll, Halloween Parade and Village Fair & Sidewalk Sale.

As Tucker moves on to her new role at the Town Hall, you can be assured that she will still be keeping a watchful eye on downtown New Canaan and I look forward to continuing our work together to create a vibrant and business friendly retail district.

While we can not begin to summarize Tucker’s Chamber career in this short format, we thought you might enjoy this brief slideshow. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words…. you can see from these pictures, Tucker never met a person or a funny hat that she did not like!

Thank you and all the best to the one and only Tucker Murphy!
